Session Details

You may book your session through our online form, email or phone (435) 764-2225.

Once we’ve booked your session I’ll be emailing or calling you and we can go over any questions you have. Like walking you through what outfits might work best for certain locations.

Wardrobe

Speaking of outfits… One question I get a lot is “What is best to wear?” This is always a tricky question. I love photographing who YOU and your family are! If your family doesn’t normally wear identical white shirts with matching khaki pants, then don’t feel pressured to wear it for your pictures. If you adore muted classics then avoid wearing bright, bold bohemian clothing and vice versa. And don’t forget your favorite accessories! With that being said here are a few suggestions to think about as well.

Try and avoid busy prints. If you’re very fair skinned avoid white tops because it’ll photograph bright and wash you out. If you’re darker skinned, same goes with black tops. Collared tops do amazing things for framing faces. Another thing to take into consideration is where the pictures will be taken. If it’s an outdoor photo session, medium-dark colors (blues, traditional earthy tones, such as tan, gold, brown, and beige) compliment the background. If the majority of your outdoor shots will be taken with a light background, then avoid wearing white or very light colored outfits, so that you don’t appear washed out or disappear into the background. Jewel tones, such as burgundy, rich reds, and maroon work well together. Family members can even coordinate outfits by choosing solids from the same color family. Indoor photo sessions tend to be a bit more formal than outdoor ones. So consider wearing darker colors. Currently I only have backdrops for indoor children sessions. If you would like a little more direction I’ve also put together a couple of my favorite color schemes that work well together, under Fashion Friday.

Props

Now let’s talk about props! For the little ones, bring the small details that make them who they are, whether it’s a pair of cowboy boots or that well loved blanket. Anything that will make them feel most at ease. I do have pettiskirts available in newborn size-6 months, 1-2 year old and 2-5years old that they are more than welcome to wear! For senior sessions if you’re a bookworm bring a stack of your favorite books. If you play sports bring that lacrosse stick or football jersey!

Locations

Another thing I’ll be discussing with you is locations. If you have any place that is special to your family speak up and I’ll do everything I can to make it work. If you just know that you want it outside in a field I’ll do the scouting and find the perfect one. Once we agree on the location comes the fun part!

Session

Your photo shoot! Come prepared to laugh, play around and just have a good time! Parents, don’t stress out if the kids aren’t cooperating with the vision you have. We have lots of time and in the case of a very grumpy child we can always reschedule!

After your session

Your photo session is done so now what? I get to work on editing those gorgeous pictures of you! I try to get a sneak peek up on my blog within a week after. 2-3 weeks after your session 25-30 edited images will be displayed online in the Memories in Raw gallery, password protected. This is where you can show all your family and friends as well as order any lab quality prints, just add them to your cart! Your gallery will be available to view for 31 days. Note: All clients are asked to sign a release form acknowledging all images are copyrighted to Leslie Carpenter of Memories in Raw. Clients must also be aware that while they’ll be given a CD of the images with a personal print release, Memories in Raw still holds the copyright and is able to use any image for advertising.

Refund policy: Due to the digital nature of this product, all sales are final.
